Welcome to the Weekly Electronics Challenge #11,
albet a day late or so, most of you make these in the weekends when you have time off, that's why we're skewing the date a bit so our overseas members can join in. Anyhow, this time we're building an Isolation Transformer - this is a pretty useful tool in the workshop as you can use it to "Isolate" a circuit from the power source, this has several advantages such as protection from voltage surges, spikes & noise, of course it'll depend on your overall design, caps'n all... so let's see what you guys can come up with. You have about a week from now, good luck. -------------------- If my soul was software, I could program myself and you.

What exactly is the challenge? For example, what advantage are you trying to get over a 1:1 transformer?

I have a 2kVA Control Transformer, which is wired for 120:120 operation (actually 240:240).

I do not have experiance in this topic

Ok,
The challenge is to build a complete isolation transformer from scratch - not to find a 1:1 in the dumpster. You can further enhance it by adding circuitry for protection against surges, overload, ripples etc. etc. -------------------- If my soul was software, I could program myself and you.

I don't think you'll find many members with transformer building facilities, unless modified MOTs are allowed.
