Oh wow. Nice!

I remember that thread and honestly at the time I thought... Well, I guess I didn't see the point. I hereby stand very corrected. That's way cooler than the sum of the parts.

I don't think anyone would have an issue with you posting a linky in this thread. In this case we'll just say it's to get a better look at the enclosure, right?

You post the pics on a photo hosting site, like image shack, & then post a link here. B)

BTW: Real sweet job. Nice job on the video, too.

really couldnt be easyer to make. you dont have to go allong the whole pic and drop senser idea that nate did, just use a pulse width modulation set up to the lights. you have a water tank at the top with a tap that can be controled to let out as big or as little water as you want, you need a submersable pump to pump the water back to the top with an overflow system to keep the level constant, this is important you want the level of the water and so the preasure comin from the tap to be as constant as possibel so not to get judders in your deisgn, if you follow these basic designs and make it accuratly enough you will have a dam fine time fountain. :D

thanks for ur reply luka1222.
i'll follow those things.i found an article which uses 555 timer to generate the LED pulses.
http://www.eccentricgenius.com/wp/2006/08/...-time-visually/

in this design how can i make the drop to stop/flowing back etc.just by varying the 10k pot is it possible?
and in my area getting UV led"s is a big issue.so shall i use normal while LED's with the fluorescent (from the green highlighter pen) ?

and have a look at the last comment.a guy posted the rough picture of setup.is this gona work?
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4050/untitledoz5.jpg

thanks for ur help.

The droplet will appear to move backwards/forwards depending on the flashing rate of the LEDs. At the crucial 'resonance' the droplet will be stationary but varying the flash above/below this speed will make it appear to go forwards or backwards.

The use of UV LEDs is important as the liquid won't fluoresce under other lights.

At what strobe speeds did it look the best luka? Also, what duty cycle did you end up using?

thanks kellys_eye

so fine tuning the 10k trimmer will give different effects.
and i found two different schematics of 555 chip for this time fountain purpose.so not sure which one is good.
http://www.eccentricgenius.com/wp/wp-conte...trobe-small.jpg
http://www.flickr.com/photos/11814425@N00/353281581/

while tuning the 10k pot(eccentricgenius.com) what we are varying exactly is it duty cycle or frequency.that flicker photo says we can vary both.
so can u confirm which one is better .

and any more ideas for replacing the UV led's and respective solution?

Varying the duty cycle will adjust the brightness of the LED whilst the frequency will adjust the 'position' of the droplet.

You can use any colour LED to display this effect. The use of UV/fluorescent material is only for effect (the droplets appear brighter when lit by UV though)

havent looked to hard but it looks to me the second one is better, being able to control the duty cycle is an absolute must, as the is what controls for how long the led is no for everytime it flashes, if the duty cycle is set to short the whole thing looks to dim, but if the duty cycle is too long then the drop doesnt look like a sphear it looks like a streak if you see what i mean. i think i had my duty cycle set to something around 5%, i got around the dimness by crankin the voltage up to 15 volts going through the leds, :D probly a better way to do this but heay it works.
