So I have an idea for a joke but I dont know much about electricity. Basically I want to make a device that will shock people just like when you rub your feet on the carpet. I was thinking of putting the device in a shoe or boot and using a 9v battery to assist in pulling electrons from the ground to give my body a negative charge and then touching random victims on the ear or something

Such pranks can seriously backfire, for example if your victim wears a pacemaker, grow up and find something more responsible to do.

Thanks for the concern mom but there was no need for the supercilious reply. Of course Im not going to go shock gramps just like I wouldnt throw waterballoons at him. Instead of pointing your nose up in the air, how about you guide me in a direction that will make it 'safe'. You my friend need to chill out and live a little. And no Im not gonna go major in electronics for a little radioshack gag.

Ummm....okay...
Any cheezy high voltage generator will do it, but if you want a little handheld box that magically charges your body to 10kV like static electricity, that can't happen. Not due to the difficulty of formulating or locating answers, but due to the human inability of asking the right questions; a skill that, were one to possess, would put them in the "answering" category.

Go get a Disposible camera, the flash charger is great for doing that. just charge it up and then put a switch on it , touch someone with it and push the switch.
Gives a rather nice JOLT |

If you use an old electric bell, take off the bell and use the reverse peak voltage from the magnet to shock your 'friends'. Put a 1M resistor in the line to reduce the current. This contraption will make a buzzing sound, but that adds to the effect

Uhh, isn't there a rule against giving information out to 'terrorists'?

Maybe if you got rid of the capacitor it would be OK to use a flash ciruit? HV, low current?

I took apart a disposable camera and shocked myself by accident, it's worse than accidently shocking ourself with a wall socket, I didn't realize that they could kill, I guess I got lucky. As to the negative ion generator, and shoe thing I remember a post a little while ago by a guy guy who was a magician and wanted to do the same thng as you, but not to shock people he linked to this "pikashoes" You might be able to find that post if you need more advice |
