Sounds like me. The only gray is in my beard & my head still has all of it's hair. I have a weight problem...I don't have enough of it, so I have to eat all the rich foods. I also have a kidney problem that results in my having to have extra salt in my diet. I'll bet this is the type of weight problem everyone would like. Wish I could figure out a way to sell it. Viagra would go broke on me as well...I'd be scared to take that stuff. Going on 52 myself, but everyone thinks I am in my 30's. At least I don't get asked for proof of age anymore. -------------------- Trouble rather the tiger in his lair, than the sage among his books.
For to you, kings & armies are things mighty & enduring. To him, mere toys of the moment, to be overturned at the flick of a finger. Fortuna favet fortibus. |

howdy howdy... my handle stems from the frustration that came when I created an account on AOL sometime around 1995, which was my first true established presence on the interwebs. I spent a significant amount of time trying to register every concievable variation of my given name I could come up with without either completely abandoning any hope of anonymity or resorting to a truely arbitrary string of numbers and letters I would never be able to remember. I also observed that there seemed to be frightening amount of people who really tried way to hard to make a name that sounded "impressive" or whatever, and found that practice to be rediculous.
eventually I gave up, decided that the whole IDEA of usernames was slightly rediculous, and that if I was going to be rediculous I might as well go all the way, and since there was a box of Nabisco Triscuits on the table, I went with it. Eventually I tacked "TheGreat" on the front for the added bit of irony, and went with it. From that day, I can honestly say that MAYBE twice in the last 15 years have I found anyone registered under this name other than myself. I also tend to create incredibly long replies on forums for no good reason. |

Welcome
^^ and I've learned to fight that urge with brevity -------------------- Answering questions is a tricky subject to practice. Not due to the difficulty of formulating or locating answers, but due to the human inability of asking the right questions; a skill that, were one to possess, would put them in the "answering" category.

I am a student majoring in Electronics Engineering Technology, and I have used this name on other forums and for online gaming. I wanted something that sounded cool but still kept my electrical background. Something like "Electron" just sounded to cheesy. And, I tried "Mho", but no one seemed to get it. I have been an electrician for many years before deciding to go back to school, by the way.
Just in case you do not know what a solenoid is, it is an electromechanical device that converts electrical energy into linear mechanical energy or motion. If anyone knows of a better definition, please feel free to share it. |

www.biocow.com is a web site I picked up about 3 or 4 years ago. I was looking at starting a small business doing web design and was looking for something unique. For one reason or another Liquid Monkey jumped into my head. I just liked the way it sounded. I looked it up and liquidmonkey.com was already taken. I started looking for other "liquid" animals but nothing else sounded good. I joked to a friend that Liquid Cow sounded really gross and he said how about Biocow? It was short and memorable and better yet it was available so I took it.
Anyway that's where it comes from. I've actually only started using it as a handle in the last year or so. I go by 2 other names around the webs. Oh, 3 actually come to think of it, but I'm trying to move over the biocow. This post has been edited by biocow on May 13, 2010 09:54 pm -------------------- I only run for 2 reasons. Away from danger and for the bus.
And I don't take the bus. |

210 MeV: The average energy released in fission of one Pu-239 atom.
I chose this nickname because, I study the principles of detection of various radioactive substances. This post has been edited by 210MeV on August 25, 2010 03:21 pm |

I got my name years ago after trying many variations of my real name with no luck. I was looking around my computer desk and spotted a disc for Terrapinlogo. A program that I never really got. You moved a turtle around using basic style commands. After that it just stuck. The only other name that I regularly use is MidgetDeath in reference to the fact that I was short as a kid.

I used to love playing with Logo on my AppleII! I always wanted to get the little 'turtle' robot/plotter thing, and draw stuff out on paper...but never did.
I spotted your user name and had a flashback. -------------------- "we need an e-kick-in-the-nuts button" -Colt45

My name means ZEX is a space game based on role play is presented in a retro-esque. Presented in a view from the top down, Zex combines elements of arcade games, trade paper, and the progress of the characters.

BitHead - I stopped fighting it. Apparently, if you fraternize with the 'Arduino script' crowd and they notice that you don't 'multiply by two', but instead always 'left-shift once' in assembly code... that name sticks.

My nickname with my drinking buddies is "Maximus Queerus" - trust me it's better than some in my group - and the rule is: you can't object to your nick name. Anyways, it's nothing to do with "orientation" but my drinking (in)ability. All the other nicknames I've had have been similarly bad but not as interesting and so in the absence of anything else, I choose something that sounded a vaguely Italian (kinda like Lorenz) but for reasons that are now lost to me.

My name is derived from my fascination with electronics, even if I have had little time to actually work with it (just graduating post-secondary), and my particular fascination with wireless communications and how they operate. This extends to cellphones (modern technology) but as I have not had much chance to experiment, it also carries with radio, wi-fi, satellite, microwave/longhaul, etc.
So Electronics + Radio Frequency got me Elecwaves. |

Hi! I'm Dig_Gil... well Dig Gil. That's because there was a time when arcade game's highscore tables would only allow 3 letter names. Instead of writing my name's initials, I figured I could shorten my first name: Diogo. "Gil" is just a name that sounds somewhat similar to my second name.
