Can my "DDS, 0-55 MHZ Signal Generator module" be used as a signal generator? I've been using it as a 40 meter VFO.

Well, sure... but what kind of signal are you needing? An RF signal stable and pure enough to tune radios is a bit more challenging than slapping together an inductor, capacitor and transistor. wink.gif

If you mean you're looking at some eBay special or whatever, I'm going to guess it's some DDS generator-in-a-chip thing. Those can be quite good, and the stability is definitely there (it'll be crystal controlled), but the purity (spurs and distortion, and amplitude flatness over the range) may not.

Yes! I was thinking of the "Signal Generator" DDS I bought on Ebay and made into a VFO for 40 meters. Then I wondered if I could have used it to "set up" my transceiver instead of asking a local ham with a sig gen to do it.

Thinking back on it, I guess the "problem" would be in the construction of a probe.
