Dear all,

i am trying to interface a wm8988 codec to a imx6q (arm) cpu.

The codec requires i2c for commands/setup, and i2s lines for digital audio.

I have succesfully (from linux) the i2c channel up and running, the wm8988.c driver already exist, so i just written the "machine" driver.

If i set the cpu as i2s master, and perform all the needed i2c intializations, i can see cpu providing correctly biclock and L/R frame clock, the codec btw is not converting anything to analog.

If i set the cpu as i2s slave (codec master), and perform all the needed i2c intializations, i can see that no bitclock or any i2s signal is generated from the codec, as in a reset state.

Every help is appreciated.

Regards,
Angelo

Surely the codec has a CLK input?

Answering questions is a tricky subject to practice. Not due to the difficulty of formulating or locating answers, but due to the human inability of asking the right questions; a skill that, were one to possess, would put them in the "answering" category.
