Spamminator Taskforce, New group to remove spam posts/topics

Spamminator Taskforce, New group to remove spam posts/topics| DutchDork |

Today, we created a new "Spamminator Taskforce" group with the specific purpose to remove spam posts/topics as soon as possible. The members of this new group are now able to remove single spam-posts or entire spam-topics in case there is a spammer active on the forum.
All members of this new group are selected from the "trusted members" group (>50 posts) and the selection is mostly based on how active a member is on the forum. This hopefully means that the forum is under constant watch of at least one of these members. The following 16 members are selected in alfabetic order: * BlueVanACD2005 * C++dude * CoulombMagician * crane550 * damien * draget * govjohn * GPG * hal * Ice-Tea * JoOngle * kellys_eye * kl27x * MyCattMaxx * Nothing40 * tekwiz If any of the above members don't want to be a member of this new group, please send me a PM and I'll directly remove you from the group. To the above members: If you are removing a spammer topic/post, could you please send me a PM with the username of the spammer, so I can suspend his account and put him in the banned list?  BTW, what's that "warn level" mean? How come tekwiz doesn't have it? |

Can you see one on yours? It says "Warn (0%)" then 5 little white bars. Thought that was for new members or something.
If I log out and look at my posts, then its gone. So it must not be bad I guess. |

The irony is it's mostly us who read the forum so mostly we're the only ones who ever do see the spam.
Allowing us to nuke the spam that's basically for us adds a sort of wiki feel to it. Not sure if I can explain that, I need sleep. OK, just checking. Sort of weird to see that, maybe if you start deleting posts left and right, it goes up a little or something.
So far all I deleted was the "SOLD" post I had in the electronics trade forum. |

We have a warning system on the forum, that can be used by a moderators to warn, suspend or ban a person. But they can do that only for new members, so if you have more than 50 posts and you become a member of the "trusted members" group, the warning status-bar dissapears. Since I created the "Spamminator Taskforce" group yesterday, I forgot to disable the warning system for this group. This is solved now |

Oh, OK. I thought it was for new members.
Still, they have to take at least a couple minutes to make an account, and then insert their spam. All that work for nothing... What do spammers get from posting their advertisments on any forum? Do they think we're all stupid and say. "Oh, OK, let buy all our parts from this place now." All it does is make us ignore them even more. |

Apparently it's not so counterproductive. After all, the whole point of advertising is to get your product seen. Certain types of spam do accomplish that, unfortunatly. Companies pay people to post this crap, & they wouldn't if it didn't help the bottom line.
