Hi, I'm new here, I have a little problem, I'll be grateful for the help. It happens that I want to modify the circuit of an FM audio transmitter, so that instead of transmitting audio can transmit a signal to turn off or turn on a switch, and the switch on and off an LED, the idea is to communicate using Morse code using the FM frequency. What could be modified to do this?. What could be change to a conventional radio receiver, so that instead of playing audio, will have a led (for morse code communication)?.

This is the transmitter diagram.

Thank you.

Hi, welcome! smile.gif

Such a modification is simple.

First, make a little oscillator (use forum search or Google for a phase-shift audio oscillator) from the mic preamplifier transistor. That will make a sinewave. You could use an IC, like a 555, but that will splatter all over the FM dial and make the neighbours hate you wink.gif

Then on the FM receiver side, use a tone decoder, like a LM567 to make an LED flash on and off.

Cheers!

Why do you want to use the FM range anyway? huh.gif

Perfect my friend!. That idea is very practical and appears to be functional. I'll try to do it, I say it because I'm new to electronics. Thank you very much friend. smile.gif

Hello friend, as I have understood that the FM frequency is more stable than the AM, and that AM is irregular as we know, then it seems better. smile.gif

nope ... that is a misnomer .
frequency modulation has no advantage over amplitude modulation as far as "stability" goes .
circuit design and construction practices have much to do with stability of rf generation .

if you mean : "why can't i receive those far away AM broadcast stations during the day ?" , this is a matter of propagation and is related to frequency and ionospheric conditions .

with rf , many of the terms and the actual meanings behind them are not interchangeable .

Radiator efficiency has a role to play too - a 1M length of wire at 100MHz is as efficient as a 100M wire at 1MHz wink.gif
